A short summary:
God of Ruin by Rina Kent is the fourth installment in the Legacy of Gods series. The story centers on Mia Sokolov, a mafia heiress and selective mute due to childhood trauma. Determined to avenge her brother Nikolai's injury caused by Landon King, Mia orchestrates a public humiliation for Landon. This act captures his attention, igniting an intense and obsessive interest in Mia.
Landon King, a genius artist with sociopathic tendencies, becomes fixated on Mia, viewing her as his muse and a challenge. Despite his manipulative nature, he learns sign language to communicate with her, revealing a deeper, more vulnerable side. Their relationship evolves from mutual animosity to a complex, passionate connection, as they confront personal demons and family conflicts.

Rina Kent has done it again, folks. 😍 If you thought you were emotionally prepared for Landon King and Mia Sokolov's story - bless your sweet, naive heart. God of Ruin doesn’t just walk into your reading life. It breaks in like a storm, redecorates your soul with heartbreak and obsession, and somehow, you love every minute of it. I know I did.
I should’ve known better. I really should have. But there I was, telling myself, “Just one more Rina Kent book before bed.” Next thing I knew, it was 3AM, my blood pressure was high, my morals were low, and Landon King had clawed his way into my brain like the unhinged dark god he is.
"But you fell so perfect in my hand. It's a waste not to touch you."
First things first. Let’s talk about Landon King. From the moment Landon slinks onto the page, he oozes danger and dysfunction. This is not your typical dark romance bad boy— Landon is wild-eyed king with a god complex and no leash. He’s not just a morally gray antihero—he’s practically charcoal. He's a maniac, emotionally unapproachable, and doesn't care for anyone's opinion but his own. A walking, talking red flag with a god complex, trauma baggage the size of Mount Everest, and the charm of a viper in a tux.
And yet? I was obsessed. The man is a full-blown catastrophe and I devoured every second of it like a feral reader gremlin. But when it comes to Mia? Oh, Mia cracks him open like a secret he didn’t want to tell.
Mia Sokolov is a whole mood. She's fierce, quiet, and sharp in all the ways that make you root for her instantly. She doesn't melt in Landon's fire—she meets it with her own. Watching their dynamic unfold is like watching a match being lit in a library: you know it’s going to burn, but you can’t look away.
I have to be honest and tell you that my favorite book in the Legacy of Gods series remains God of Wrath, but I still loved this book. It has something, that I can't really explain.
Let me just say that if he wanted to, he WOULD. 😌
Take Landon, for example; he learned sign language for her. He took a bullet for her. He learned empathy for her, or at least he TRIED to. He got her an engagement ring, with a diamond that matches her eye color...
Just saying.🤷🏻♀️
Yeah Landon's a troubled human being - more like a monster or a beast - but he has a soft spot.
And if we talk the sizzling scenes... Oh boy!! 🥵
The spice level? Let’s just say I had to open a window. And maybe fan myself with the paperback. Rina Kent does not hold back—this is enemies-to-lovers with teeth. Emotional carnage wrapped in silk sheets. Their chemistry is so intense it could probably be studied by scientists. There were some moments when I had to pause before I continued reading because it got really intense. But I'm not gonna spoil it, so you'll have to read it yourselves.
Landon and Mia’s relationship is a battleground of lust, love, and psychological warfare. One minute they're devouring each other like oxygen, the next they're tearing each other apart, only to come back for more. The tension? Unholy. The spice? Sinful. The emotional whiplash? Worth every second.
"That's when I realized that before him, I was only living, never truly alive."
But God of Ruin is more than just steam. It's raw, emotional, and layered with enough secrets to fuel a thousand therapy sessions. Kent weaves their story with her signature dark magic—full of secrets, intensity, and moments that feel like you're reading with your heart in your throat. And yet, there are also these unexpected slivers of softness, like a smile breaking through a storm. Those are the moments that stay with you. That, and the sheer number of times you’ll whisper “oh no” while turning the page anyway.
This isn’t your average love story. It’s jagged and haunting and messed up in all the best ways. But if you like your romance dark, your characters damaged, and your plot laced with secrets, betrayal, and sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw—God of Ruin is your poison. And I, for one, drank every drop.

Favourite quotes:
" I don't even know what I'm doing. For the first time in my life, I'm prioritizing someone else over my own schemes. Maybe, just maybe, I'm irrevocably bewitched by that soft voice and I refuse to belive that was the last time I heard it."
I'll make sure you regain your voice even if it's the last thing I do."
"He learned sign language for me and helped me set up my own garden. He also plays chess with me and cooks me my favourite pasta. He also drives me insane by being so socially and metally different. But I'm taking my time getting to know him better and he's letting me in."
"Everything is always okay whenever she's in my sight. Not even my deamons could interfere with this sence of peace. She's managed to tame them by merely existing."
"Thank you for letting me into your world"
"Thank you for being my world."
"Thank you for helping me get my voice back."
"Thank you for letting me hear it."
Up next? Nikolai and Brandon in God of Fury. But before I get my hands on this book, I have to finish yet another one of the great booktok books by Shantel Tessier. Let me just say that this one is even more intense than the Legacy of God's series. I'll leave you with that.
Until next time,
Booked up babe.😘
